Workshop: Leadership and Language with Kenneth J. Gergen
Leadership and Language
On feburary 28th 2011 we had the pleasure of inviting Kenneth J. Gergen to Copenhagen once more for an inspiring workshop on the topic: Leadership and language.
Leadership and Language: How managers can use language to coordinate action, reduce conflict, and strengthen the morale in organization.
Social constructionist thinking has great relevance to the society today, where the conditions are constantly changing. For organizations to maintain and improve their productivity it becomes increasingly necessary for the managers, consultants and employees to master dialogue. Dialogue is not merely about "talking". Dialogue that leads to new understandings and good performance is all about skills. In this workshop Gergen illustrated, how managers are able to use different dialogical skills to coordinate the organizational members' thoughts and actions and how to build a bridge between conflicting parts.
Kenneth J. Gergen, Ph.D., is a founding member, President of the Taos Institute and Chair of the Board, and the Mustin Professor of Psychology at Swarthmore College. Gergen is a major figure in the development of social constructionist theory and its applications to practices of social change.
